[Football] Weah Named KCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University junior linebacker Jason Weah (JR/Madison, Wis. ) has been chosen as the KCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today (Sept. 21).Weah registered four tackles in Saturday night's 17-7 victory at Tabor College, but his imprint on the game went far beyond the box score.He first stopped the Bluejay running back in his tracks for a one-yard loss on fourth and one in the opening quarter. Weah then broke up a fourth and five pass in the fourth quarter to set up the Falcons' game-clinching drive.The Madison, Wisc. native was a key component of a defensive unit that helped limit Tabor to only 283 total yards.Weah is third on the team with 14 tackles on the season."Jason is a great player for us," said Dion Meneley, Friends University football head coach.  "He is a smart, aggressive linebacker that is always around the ball and is an absolute joy to coach every day.  He is very deserving of this award."Weah and the Falcons are set to host Avila University for their home opener Saturday night (Sept. 26). Kickoff is set for 7 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
