[Football] Clowdus Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team nod

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University freshman running back Laken Clowdus has been voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District football team as a first-team selection, the organization released today (Nov. 18).As a first-team all-district pick, Clowdus now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second- team Academic All-America honorees being announced in mid-December.Voted on by CoSIDA members, eligible nominees must have maintained a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or important reserve, competed in at least 50 percent of their team's games, completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.Clowdus, a business administration major, served as the Falcons' primary back all season, rushing for a team-high 686 yards that ranked eighth in the KCAC along with a team-best seven touchdowns.A native of Bartlesville, Okla., the highlight of the season for Clowdus came in a career-best performance of 196 yards and four touchdowns that earned him KCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors in a 35-13 victory over Bethany College (10-30).The Falcons finished 1-9 on the season and it was announced earlier this week that Terry Harrison has been named the team's new head coach.For the complete CoSIDA Football Academic All-District list, click HERE.
