[Football] Pharms Named to AP NAIA All-America Team

Friends University senior defensive lineman Jeremiah Pharms has added another All-America honor to his name, as he has been selected to the Associated Press NAIA All-America team as a first-team pick, the organization announced today (Dec. 20).Sponsored by Regions Bank, the AP NAIA All-America Football squad was chosen by a panel of Sports Information Directors and the AP.Also a first-team AFCA-NAIA All-America and unanimous All-KCAC performer, Pharms produced a school record 14.5 sacks on the season for the Falcons.He achieved the mark with a flair for the dramatic, recording 2.5 sacks in the Falcons' 20-13 season finale victory at Ottawa University (Nov. 9).A native of Stockton, Calif., Pharms' sack total ranked second in the KCAC and third in the NAIA. He also paced the league and was second in the NAIA in tackles for loss per game (2.6).Pharms' most productive outing came against Tabor College (9/21) when he tallied a career-high five sacks along with seven tackles."We are extremely proud of Jeremiah and he is very deserving of this recognition," Friends head coach Dion Meneley said."Jeremiah came to us as an outside linebacker, but made the conversion to defensive line seamlessly.
