[Football] Navarro Named KCAC Special Teams Player of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University sophomore kicker Nick Navarro has been selected as the KCAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced today (Nov. 4).Navarro sent the ball through the uprights on all six of his attempts on Saturday (Nov. 2), with none bigger than the game-winning 38-yard field goal in overtime to give the Falcons a 34-31 victory over the Bethany College Swedes.The Wichita native also hit a 23-yard field goal earlier and was successful on all four of his extra point tries.Navarro is currently third in the KCAC in field goal percentage (.667) and fifth in field goals per game (0.7)."What a great honor for Nick," Friends head coach Dion Meneley said. "Kicking is extremely difficult and he works very hard at perfecting his craft. Nick did a great job of coming through when the team needed him and we were all very excited for him."The Falcons will wrap up the 2019 season Saturday afternoon (Nov. 9) at Ottawa University. Kickoff is set for 1 pm in Ottawa, Kan.
