[Football] Jinkins Assumes Position of Falcon Offensive Coordinator

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University head football coach Dion Meneley has announced that assistant coach Jason Jinkins has been named the program's new offensive coordinator heading into the upcoming 2021 season."After three seasons as an assistant coach with our program, I am proud to be able to name Jason as our offensive coordinator," said Meneley. "We saw growth on the offensive side of the ball this past season, and now it is time to take the next step.  Jason and I have had many discussions over the past three seasons, and we are in alignment with how we need to play and what we need to do to improve.  He believes in building strong relationships with players and will be a great mentor on and off the field.  Jason is a great person and coach, and I am excited to be able to add him to our full-time staff as the offensive coordinator."Having been the Falcons' running backs coach for the past three years, Jinkens oversaw the KCAC's fourth-ranked rushing attack this past season (195.6 ypg).After beginning his coaching career at Haven high school for three seasons as the special teams, wide receivers and defensive backs coach, Jinkens relocated to Belle Plain HS and eventually became head coach from 2013-17. He also served as Belle Plain's offensive coordinator for eight seasons, including four years prior to being named the team's head coach.Jinkens prepped at Canton HS and was a four-time all-state offensive lineman and a two-time all-league selection.  He also played in the 1997 Shrine Bowl, a prominent Kansas high school all-star game that sends all proceeds to Shriner's Hospital's network of 22 hospitals."I am very excited and blessed to earn the promotion to offensive coordinator at Friends University!" said Jinkens.Jinkens' first game in the new position will take place on Sept. 4, when the Falcons host Kansas Wesleyan University in the 2021 season opener. Kickoff is set for 6 pm at Adair-Austin Stadium.
