[Football] Football Stifled at No. 2 Northwestern

Doane Football traveled north on Saturday to take on another NAIA Top 5 team as they faced No. 2 Northwestern on their Homecoming. The Red Raiders controlled the game by holding onto the ball for more than 40 minutes as they posted a 38-0 win.The Tigers were out-yarded in the game, 493-87, and were held to three first downs. Northwestern had five touchdowns on the day, all resulting from drives that were nine plays or more.Frazzie Wynn (JR/Lincoln, Neb.) led the TIgers with 26 yards rushing. Zach Witters (SR/Lenexa, Kan.) completed four passes for 62 yards, hitting Andre Norman (SO/Littleton, Colo.) for a 44-yard completion.Northwestern received 266 passing yards from Blake Fryar. He threw four touchdown passes, all to Cade Moser who had eight receptions and 142 yards receiving. Konner McQuillan rushed for 102 yards to lead all rushers.Defensively for Doane, Riley Heithoff (SR/Raymond, Neb.) led the team with eight total tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage. Three Tigers finished with seven tackles apiece, Donte WIggins, Damond Brown (SR/Phoenix, Ariz.), and Ryan Lasauskas (SR/Omaha, Neb.). Brown had a tackle for loss to join Heithoff in the category.Doane will return home for the next two games. The Tigers will start off the home stand with another Top 25 opponent as Dordt comes to Crete. The Defenders are ranked No. 19 and will kickoff with the Tigers at 1 PM on September 25.
