[Football] Football Falcons Finalize 2020 Slate

WICHITA, Kan. – In what has been anything but a normal offseason, the Friends University Football Falcons have put the finishing touches on their 2020 schedule. The season will begin one week later than originally scheduled with a non-conference tilt at two-time defending KCAC champion Kansas Wesleyan University on Sept. 12 in Salina, Kan.The Falcons will then officially open KCAC action at Tabor College (Sept. 19) before welcoming Avila University to Wichita for their home opener on Sept. 26 at Adair-Austin Stadium."Just like most things this year, our schedule is going to be different than we have been used to in past seasons," Friends football head coach Dion Meneley said. "Eliminating our first game versus Saint Mary, Kansas Wesleyan being an out of conference game, and only having eight games count towards the conference standings is unique to say the least, but we are very excited to get back on the field after a very long break."The Falcons' schedule also includes home dates vs. Sterling College (Oct. 10), Southwestern College (Oct. 24) and then Senior Day vs. Ottawa University on Nov. 7.  "Sports have taken a backseat to the more serious issues facing our world during the past four months and we will see more changes to what we consider normal during a typical season; however, once we get between the lines we will get a sense of that normal back," Meneley said. "The safety of our players and staff continue to be at the forefront of our conversations and we will adjust as needed to ensure we are safe and competing at our highest level."The entire 2020 Friends Football schedule is listed below:Sept. 12 @ Kansas Wesleyan University, 6 pmSept. 19 @ Tabor College, 7 pmSept. 26 vs. Avila University, 7 pmOct. 3 @ McPherson College, TBAOct. 10 vs. Sterling College, 1:30 pmOct. 17 @ Bethel College, 1 pmOct. 24 vs. Southwestern College, 1:30 pmOct. 31 at Bethany College, 1:00 pmNov. 7 vs. Ottawa University, 1:30 pm
