Doane Football closed out the home slate on Saturday with a 28-3 loss to Midland. Turnovers proved to be the difference with the Tigers committing six while forcing three from the Warriors. Doane fell to 2-5 on the season with the loss.The first points of the game were scored on a turnover as Midland picked up a fumble and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown. The second Warrior score came on a big pass play, striking for a 69-yard score.Doane was able to get on the board in the second quarter with a 20-yard field goal from Jeremy Henning (JR/Highlands Ranch, Colo.). The Warriors turned the ball over on their next possession, however, on the first play of Doane's ensuing possession they threw an interception. The Warriors moved down field and punched the ball in for a 21-3 lead at the half.A Tiger fumble in the third quarter at midfield set the Warriors up for the final score of the day. Midland used 10 plays to move 50 yards for a touchdown and 28-3 lead.Doane was held to 161 yards of total offense while Midland finished the game with 327 yards. The difference came in the passing game where the Warriors posted 237 yards to Doane's 83. Each team finished the game averaging 2.0 yards per rush, however, Midland averaged 16.9 yards per pass completion while the Tigers were held to 5.2 yards per completion.Jacobi White (SR/Grapevine, Texas) led the Tiger ground game with 30 yards. Drake Davidson (SR/Moberly, Mo.) threw for 71 yards on 10 completions with Kaden Reimers (SR/Palmer, Neb.) the top target of the receivers with five catches for 19 yards.Defensively, four Tigers had nine tackles apiece. Riley Heithoff (SR/Raymond, Neb.) posted 1.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss among his nine tackles. Cody Dooley (JR/Mansfield, Tex.) notched four solo tackles among his nine. Mason Krause (JR/Lyndon, Kan.) recorded a sack for a loss of 15 yards among his nine tackles. Ryan Lasauskas (JR/Omaha, Neb.) forced a fumble along with his nine tackles.Doane had eight tackles for loss, including four sacks. Riley Homolka (SR/Wilber, Neb.) had a fumble recovery while Cooper Bates (JR/Wilber, Neb.) and Cedric Gooch Jr. (JR/Wylie, Tex.) picked up interceptions.The Tigers will travel to Morningside on Saturday, November 14, for their next outing.
