[Football] Clowdus Named KCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. – With his career-rushing effort fueling the Friends University Falcons' first victory of the season, freshman running back Laken Clowdus has been named the KCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today (Nov. 1)."Laken is an amazing young man who I couldn't be happier for," said Friends football interim head coach Matt Byers."He is one of our hardest workers on and off the field. Stepping up into the leading role this season, Laken has demonstrated tremendous leadership in practice and in games.  His performance on Saturday was a culmination of running the ball hard and great blocking upfront from our offensive line. Laken is very deserving of this award and again I couldn't be happier."A native of Bartlesville, Okla., Clowdus rushed for a career-best 196 yards and found the end zone four times while averaging a robust 7.8 yards per carry in the Falcons' 35-13 victory over Bethany College on Saturday (Oct. 31).He broke free for a 53-yard scoring burst in the third quarter to put the finishing touches on his career performance.Clowdus is now up to fourth in the KCAC in both rushing yards (605) and rushing yards per game (75.6).The Falcons will next play at No. 15-ranked Southwestern College next Saturday (Nov. 6) at 1 pm in Winfield, Kan.
