[Football] No. 12 SXU Defeats No. 19 USF, 24-21; Claims MSFA Midwest Title

CHICAGO – For the second consecutive season No. 12 Saint Xavier University football (9-2, 7-0 MSFA Midwest) defeated No. 19 University of St. Francis (Ill.) with the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League Championship on the line. The Cougars outlasted the Fighting Saints, 24-21, Saturday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago, Ill. A season ago, SXU won 26-20 over USF in overtime in Joliet. The win gives Saint Xavier its ninth MSFA Mideast League crown and fifth in the last six seasons. It's the 12th MSFA title overall for the Cougars, having also won three MSFA Mideast Championships in 2009, 2010 & 2012.
