Football Loses Last-Second Heartbreaker at Torero Stadium

San Diego football (1-6, 1-3 PFL) surged ahead with 42 seconds remaining on Saturday afternoon but could not hang on and secure its second Pioneer Football League win of the season, dropping a heartbreaking 25-20 decision to Drake (4-3, 4-0 PFL) on a last-chance Hail Mary at Torero Stadium. With USD chasing 19-13 late in the fourth quarter, senior running back Isaiah Williams recorded a one-yard touchdown rush that put his team ahead 20-19 after it converted on the extra point. The Bulldogs got the ball back and used seven plays to march 75 yards down the field before quarterback Luke Bailey heaved a wobbly, last-second pass into the end zone as time expired. Drake wide receiver Tyler Radocha came down with the ball while surrounded by several teammates and San Diego defenders, scoring a game-winning, walk-off 38-yard touchdown strike with zeros on the clock.
