Mitchell and Wickare Earn Final PFL Weekly Honors

After leading San Diego to a dominant 47-20 road win at Stetson, wide receiver Re-al Mitchell was named the PFL Offensive Player of the Week and linebacker Jayden Wickware was named the PFL Special Teams Player of the Week, the Pioneer Football League annouced on Sunday afternoon. Mitchell was responsible for three touchdowns in USD's final game of 2023: two receiving and one rushing. He finished the day with 12 receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns and added eight rushing yards on two carries. Mitchell's first touchdown at the 5:07 mark of the third quarter helped the Toreros extend their lead to 11 points after Stetson closed to within four points to start the second half. He helped break the game open with touchdowns on back-to-back San Diego drives in the fourth quarter, providing a six-yard touchdown run and then a 12-yard touchdown reception, pushing the lead to 40-13.
