[Football] Pharms' First-Team All-KCAC Honor Highlights Football Falcons All-Conference Recipients

WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior defensive lineman Jeremiah Pharms (SR/Stockton, Calif. ), fresh off of setting a new single-season school sack record (14.5), has been chosen as a unanimous first-team All-KCAC selection, the league announced today (Nov. 18)."We had a number of players nominated for all-conference awards and ended up with a positive representation for our program," Friends head coach Dion Meneley said.  "I am very proud of the work these men put into this season and there are a number players left off the list that are very deserving.  We are very proud of the attention they are receiving."Pharms capped his special season with 2.5 sacks to help the Falcons conclude the season with a 20-13 victory at Ottawa University (Nov. 9).A native of Stockton, Calif., Pharms' sack total ranked second in the KCAC and he paced the league in tackles for loss (26).The Falcons also placed a backfield trio on the all-conference honorable-mention offense list, with six defensive players earning honorable-mention honors.Quincy Brown (SR/Redding, Calif. ) led the Falcons' ground attack and was 10th in the league in rushing yards per game (51) along with 459 total rushing yards. Marshall McShan (JR/Millville, NJ) added 437 yards on the ground with three scores while tying for the team-lead with 17 receptions.  Juan Salazar (JR/Vernon, Texas) is also an honorable-mention pick as a fullback after gaining 94 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also proved to be a receiving threat out of the backfield, with 14 receptions for 139 yards and one score.The defensive honorable-mention performers that helped the Falcons record the fourth-ranked scoring defense in the KCAC include Adam Brown (SO/Wichita, Kan. ), Robert Garcia (JR/Wichita, Kan.), David Akao (SO/Wichita, Kan.), Jordan Brookins (SR/Fort Worth, Texas), Drake Damon (JR/Goddard, Kan. ) and Sherman Arthur (SR/Los Angeles, Calif.).Brown put together a solid all-around season with 35 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, with Garcia posting near mirror image production of 34 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and also 3.5 sacks.Akao led the Falcons with 66 tackles, while Brookins had 42 stops and 5.5 tackles for loss.Damon and Arthur helped stabilize the Falcons' defensive backfield, with each coming up with one interception on the season. Damon also made 28 tackles, while Arthur recorded 22 stops.The all-conference honorees made heavy contributions to the Falcons finishing the season on a high note with two straight victories.
