[Football] Buhake named to AFCA NAIA All-America Second Team

AFCA NAIA All-America TeamsThe school's all-time leader in sacks is now also an All-American.Senior defensive Bernard Buhake, who recorded 19 career sacks at St. Ambrose, was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) NAIA All-America Second Team today.He is the first Bee named to the team since Chris Overton earned first team honors in 2017.Overton (17.5 sacks) is one of the players Buhake surpassed in his climb to the top of the school's sack list.Buhake picked up seven sacks this season to lead the team. The senior defensive end from Arlington, Texas, collected 16 tackles for loss giving him 33.5 in his career, good for fourth all-time. He was credited with 43 total tackles this spring.A three-time all-conference selection, Buhake is the 10th St. Ambrose player all-time named to an AFCA Coaches' All-America Team.The AFCA's NAIA All-America Selection Committee is made up of two head coaches from each of the AFCA's seven districts, one of whom serves as a district chairman, along with another head coach who serves as the chairman of the selection committee. The coaches in each district are responsible for ranking the top players in their respective districts prior to a conference call between the district chairmen and the committee chairman on which the team is chosen.
