2021 Wingate University Football Season Outlook

Wingate, N.C.—-The Wingate University Bulldogs open the 2021 season this week, hosting Shaw University Thursday night at 6 p.m. This will be the first full season since the fall of 2019, when the Bulldogs won a program-record 10 games and made their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II play-offs. Wingate played a four-game spring schedule in 2021 that wrapped up in early April. The Bulldogs went 10-2 in 2019, their third straight season with at least nine wins and fourth straight with at least eight victories. The 'Dogs lead the SAC in overall wins and league victories since the start of the 2016 season. Wingate was picked second in the preseason SAC poll and is ranked 24th in the AFCA preseason top 25.
