Tornados Persevere, Outlast Scots in Conference Finale, 14-3

Despite a near two-and-a-half-hour lighting delay, the Brevard College football team (3-1, 2-1 USAS) outlasted Maryville College (1-2, 0-2 USAS), 14-3, on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon at Honaker Field in Maryville, Tennessee.

Brevard’s defense, which has not allowed a touchdown in 11 consecutive quarters of play, forced three interceptions, two sacks, and six tackles-for-loss while limiting the Maryville offense to under 150 yards of total offense and holding the Scots to 2-of-10 on third downs. The BC offense out-gained Maryville, 246-147 in total offense, while BC’s special team’s unit averaged 40.8 yards-per-punt.
