Samford Athletics Announces Diversity Initiatives; Armstead Named Director of Diversity & Intercultural Initiatives

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford University Director of Athletics Martin Newton announced on Monday, June 29 a broad action plan to address racial justice, diversity, and cultural awareness within the Department of Athletics. The plan includes the creation of a new position within the department's Senior Leadership Team, Director of Diversity and Intercultural Initiatives for Athletics, and seven objectives designed to create and maintain a better environment to promote diversity and inclusion.
