Salukis open training camp — Nic Baker, Avante Cox named to preseason Payton Award watch list

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois opened its training camp on a humid Wednesday morning at Saluki Stadium. Just as practice began, the preseason Payton Award watch list was announced and included Saluki quarterback Nic Baker and wide receiver Avante Cox. The award will go to the top player in FCS football during the upcoming 2022 season.
