On This Day in IWU History: Gilbert Scores Twice in Final 14 Seconds as Football Thumps Lakeland

On this day in 1963, the Illinois Wesleyan University football team thumped Lakeland College, 49-13, in non-conference action in Bloomington. The Titans racked up 606 total yards in the game, 447 of which came through the air and 159 on the ground, while holding the Muskies to 251 yards of total offense. Defensively, IWU snagged three interceptions and held Lakeland to 14 first downs.
