On This Day in IWU History: Checchin Takes a Kickoff 100 Yards for a TD

On this day in 2014, Illinois Wesleyan University's Artie Checchin took a kick 100 yards for a touchdown, breaking a 72-year old school record in the process. The big play by Checchin highlighted a 42-35 season-opening win over 25th-ranked Franklin College. Checchin went on to finish with 329 total all purpose yards. His big play remains as the longest in IWU history, breaking Bill Alkire's 99-yard return against St. Joseph on Oct. 19, 1942.
