Martin Discusses His Comeback Game, Washington Talks UNA

North Carolina A&T head coach Sam Washington opening statement… "Good afternoon, everybody. Good ball game, particularly for the offense. I thought the offense played extremely well. They were able to move the ball both running and, you know, we believe in doing chicken, and I believe we had the recipe this past weekend, and everything went according to plan. One of the things that really stood out offensively is that we did not punt the entire game, and that's something the offense can be very proud of, and so am I, for the offense. Defensively, I thought we got better. We did some things a lot better. One of the things I was disappointed with was their third-down conversions. I think they completed like seven or nine of 14 or something like that and particularly in the first half. There also were two drives; we feel like we should be able to stop someone before they can drive the length of the field, and they had two very long drives offensively, and that was very disturbing for us. But, overall, I thought the guys played extremely hard. I thought they prepared well last week in practice, and it showed. We believe if you practice, you put in the time in practice, it'll show up on Saturday, and that happened for us. The special teams also showed up. Right before the half, I think it was a matter of seconds, and they kicked off, and Taymon Cooke returned it back 40-plus yards and got us in scoring territory, and offensively we scored in three plays. That was huge. I thought we took Big Mo into the locker room because of that. But again, I tip my hat to coach Clark and his staff. He brought that team in prepared, and I thought they played well."
