Late game heroics lead Panthers to comeback victory

PAINESVILLE, OH – The hometown kid came through when it mattered most. After a late game scuffle saw starting quarterback Christian Arrambide get dismissed from the game, backup quarterback Joey Cambron (Daviess County HS) put together a 7-play, 88-yard drive that ended with an 12-yard touchdown pass to Deonco Wilkerson, sending the game to overtime. This came after the Panthers saw themselves down 17 with just under six minutes remaining. In extra time, the Panther defense forced a missed field goal from Lake Erie on their first and only possession. The Wesleyan offense took advantage, and Wilkerson took a handoff from Cambron and rushed in the endzone to score the final points of the game, giving Wesleyan the 43-37 overtime victory.
