Getting to Know Your Warriors : Josh Colbert

Winona, Minn. – Winona State student-athletes and coaches are working through a fall season unlike any other, with a focus on practices and conditioning rather than competition.  While all Warriors are missing the chance to compete, two new coaches on campus are using this time to learn and train in on their roles with the Winona State football program, with an on the future and a chance compete for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) title.

This edition of Getting to Know Your Warriors introduces us to two new Warrior assistant coaches, Thomas Gary-Homes and Josh Colbert.  Both coaches joined the Warrior staff this summer and bring solid connections to recruiting territories in the Midwest and strong resumes as former student-athletes.   Colbert, a former two-sport standout at Ohio Northern and Gary-Homes, an Olivet (MI) College graduate help balance out head coach Tom Sawyers' staff and join a veteran group of coordinators and position coaches at Winona State University.

The 2019 football season was a strong one for WSU, as they went 8-4 overall, maintained their grip on the Sledgehammer traveling trophy and earned an appearance i the Mineral Water Bowl, the X post-season appearance for the program.

We recently caught up with coach Colbert and coach Gary-Homes to see how they are adjusting to their new roles and learn about their backgrounds.
