[Football] Thompson NAIA AFCA All-America First-Team

Georgetown College football has not had multiple NAIA All-Americans since 2005, that is until Thursday when the AFCA announced the NAIA 2019 AFCA All-America honors and three Tigers were recognized.Starr Thompson was named First-Team All-American, the first GC player since Brock Messina in 2013 to be first team. The senior led the defense with 106 tackles from his defensive back position. His 55 assisted tackles ranks 10th all-time in a regular season at Georgetown. He also had six pass break ups and three interceptions, which he returned for 75 yards. Thompson played as a true freshman, a rarity at Georgetown, and he finished with 248 tackles, 18 pass break ups and seven interceptions.Joining the Crestwood, Ky. native are two more Kentucky products – Landon Corolla and JJ Ogbogu. Both were named honorable mention this year.
