[Football] The Skyhawks Soar Over the Knights of KCU

Grayson, Ky. – Point increases their conference record to 3-1 and their overall record to 4-5 after a 27-12 victory against the Kentucky Christian Knights. With the win, the Skyhawks exceeded their win total from last year. In the first quarter, the Skyhawks had an opportunity to get on the scoreboard first after Micah Oglesby (SR/Toccoa, Ga.) intercepted a pass from the Knights and ran it back to the KCU 10 yard line. However, the Knights put up a good defensive stand and forced Point into a 27 yard field goal try that unfortunately missed left. Point didn't miss their second opportunity when Keenan Wise (SO/Atlanta, Ga.) completed a pass to Emery Bryant (FR/Birmingham, Al.) for a 21 yard touchdown. This put Point up 6-0, after the missed PAT, at the 13:52 minute mark of the second quarter. At the 6 minute mark, Bryant caught a pass from Micah Maxey (SO/Lawrenceville, Ga.) for a 75 yard TD giving Point a 13-0 lead. However, the Skyhawks were not done as Maxey passed to Timothy Gary (JR/Lawrenceville, Ga.) who ran for 32 yards securing one more TD before the break, 20-0. Point received the ball starting the third quarter, but the Knight's defense held them to only 12 yards on the initial second half drive which forced them to punt from their own 47 yard line. KCU took their first possession of the third quarter and drove down the field finding the end zone and adding 6 points of their own to the scoreboard with an 8 yard touchdown pass. Nevertheless, Point retaliated quickly on their next drive with another Skyhawk touchdown pass from Keenan Wise to Bashon Morris (FR/Augusta, Ga.) for 43 yards, making the score 27-6. KCU found the end zone once more adding 6 more points to the scoreboard, 27-12. The defense for Point and KCU stood up preventing any further points to be added to the scoreboard in the 4th quarter. The Skyhawks had 3 of their 4 interceptions in the fourth quarter: 2 from Isaiah McFarland (JR/Ellenwood, Ga.) and another from Quan Neal (SO/Cedartown, Ga.). The final score of the game was 27-12. The Skyhawks will return home for homecoming this coming Saturday, November 9th.
