[Football] The Skyhawks Fall at Paladin Stadium for the Final Game of the Season

Greenville, S.C. – The Skyhawks' offense struggled to move the ball against a good FCS #15 ranked Furman team in Greenville, S.C. The Paladin's won 64-7 over the Skyhawks in the final game of the season. As the rain poured down on the teams, Point felt the press from Furman as they could only gain 91 total yards. The Skyhawk's offense had the ball 14 times, and of the 14 they had 4 turnovers, 6 punts, and a safety. Furman received the ball on the opening kickoff, and they capitalized on their initial drive with a touchdown. Then pretty much anytime they drove the ball they capitalized on it, including an intercepted pass from Keenan Wise (SO/Atlanta, Ga.). The Paladins quickly ended the first quarter up 21-0. The second quarter started out about the same, with every drive by the Paladins ending in points on the scoreboard, but with 7:35 left on the clock, Quentin Eagle (FR/Atlanta, Ga.) recovered a fumble from Furman at the Furman 19 yard line giving the ball back to the Skyhawks. Point capitalized on this opportunity. Jaikobee Gamble (FR/Alexander City, Al.) caught a 15 yard touchdown pass from Micah Maxey (SO/Lawrenceville, Ga.) to put the Skyhawks on the scoreboard 33-7. Furman added 10 more points to the scoreboard before going into halftime, 43-7. Coming back from the locker room, Point was able to hold the Paladins to only 14 points and keeping the score to 57-7 going into the final quarter. In the final 15 minutes, Point's defense stood up and held Furman to only a single touchdown at 1:32 left in the game, ending the game with the final score of 64-7. This ended the Skyhawks season with a record of 5-7. The five wins are the most wins in the past four years.
