[Football] The Skyhawks Fall at Homecoming against St. Andrews

West Point, Ga. – Point returned home for their homecoming tilt against the Knights of St. Andrews University. The Skyhawks fell by a score of 33-28 after a hard fought battle. The Knights took their first drive of the game that ended with a for 33 yard run into the end zone for the first touchdown of the day. Point responded quickly on their first drive as Micah Maxey (SO/Lawrenceville, Ga.) passed to Tyrique Robinson (SO/Decatur, Ga.) for a 15 yard touchdown of their own to tie up the score with 8:15 left on the clock. With 2:30 left on the first quarter clock, Maxey passed the ball to Emery Bryant (FR/Birmingham, Al.) for another Skyhawk TD for Point to give them their first lead of the game 14-7. Point's lead did not last long though, as the Knight's quarterback carried in another touchdown to knot the score again, 14-14 early in the second stanza. But Point wasn't having it, on their next drive opportunity a pass to A.J. Hunt (SR/Brunswick, Ga.) gave the Skyhawks a 12 yard touchdown giving them yet another lead, 21-14. Just seconds before the break, the Knights found the end zone again. To tie the score going into halftime at 21-21. Point received the ball starting the second half, but the drive ended when Maxey's pass to Bryant was intercepted by the Knights. The third quarter was scoreless and within the first few seconds in the final quarter, the Knights completed a 21 yard touchdown pass to take the lead for good. The extra point kick, however was blocked and the score stayed at 27-21. Point could not score on their ensuring drive and had to punt the ball back to the Knights. The next drive opportunity for the visitors was successful again, another TD and no PAT to raise the score 33-21 with 6:50 left on the clock. Keenan Wise (SO/Atlanta, Ga.) came out in the next drive for Point, and threw a touchdown pass to Timothy Gary (JR/Lawrenceville, Ga.) for 20 yards with 3:30 on the clock, 33-28. The Skyhawks had one more drive after this, but the Knights defense held them to only 11 yards. The Skyhawks record fell to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in conference.
