[Football] Late Field Goal Grounds Eagles at Home Against Saint Xavier

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS (Ill.) — When sophomore defender Dionte Moorehead sacked Saint Xavier University quarterback Alex Martinez for a loss of eight yards on 3rd & 10 with just over five minutes remaining in the game — pushing the Cougars back to the RMU 40 yard line — it appeared as if the Eagles defense had forced SXU out of scoring range and that a return of the Robert Morris offense, via a Saint Xavier punt, would be forthcoming.Bucking the conventional call, however, the visitors aligned in field goal formation for kicker Mike Iturbe, who connected on a 57-yarder that gave the Cougars a 38-21 lead with just 4:59 left to play in the contest—a three-point advantage that would hold through the final horn on Saturday evening at Morris Field. The hard luck loss drops the Robert Morris University-Illinois football program to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in MSFA Midwest League play.
