[Football] Johnson's Returns Spark Defense; Propel Eagles to Win Over Missouri Baptist

CREVE COEUR (Mo.) — With his team clinging to a 12-point lead and in need of a defensive stop, Eagles linebacker Billy Johnson stepped in front of a pass from Spartans quarterback Josh Munn and took the interception 67 yards to the MBU five yard line, where RMU quarterback Jack Sheehan would take a knee on first down to run out the clock on the Robert Morris University-Illinois football program's fourth victory of the season—a 25-13 win over Missouri Baptist University on Saturday afternoon at Christian Brothers College field.The return by Johnson was his second such scramble of the afternoon — the first followed a Josh Munn fumble that the senior corralled and carried for 71 yards to setup a a 30-yard field goal by RMU's Omar Beltran — and allowed the visitors to breathe a sigh of relief after the Spartans drove 33 yards to the Robert Morris 28 yard line in search of an opportunity to trim the Eagles lead to a single score. Johnson would finish the game with five tackles and a pass break-up, in addition to his 138 yards accumulated in the wake of two MBU turnovers.
