Football Game Notes vs. Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.–Westminster opens the 130th season in program history this week when it travels to Grove City and Robert E. Thorn Field. The Titans finished 7-3 overall and 6-2 in the PAC in 2022, winning five consecutive games to close out the season before receiving an invitation to participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference's (ECAC) Clayton Chapman Bowl against SUNY Brockport, but the game was canceled due to extreme winter weather conditions in the Buffalo, N.Y. area. It was the sixth time the Titans, under 10th-year head coach Scott Benzel, qualified for a birth in the ECAC Bowl Series. Grove City and eighth-year head coach Andrew DiDonato went 8-3 overall and 6-3 in PAC play last season. The Wolverines secured a 31-14 victory over visiting Farleigh Dickinson-Florham in the ECAC's James Lynah Bowl in 2022. Grove City is 4-1 all-time in ECAC bowl action. This year, the league's 10-team, intraconference schedule will create plenty of intrigue from start to finish. The conference-only model replaces the unbalanced schedule deployed in 2022. The Titans are 7-3 in their last 10 against the Wolverines, including a 4-2 mark at Thorn Field during that stretch.
