Football faces Northern State for annual homecoming contest

THIS WEEK
•The Southwest Minnesota State University football team (1-5, 1-4 NSIC), following two road games, returns to Mattke Field at The Schwan Regional Event Center to face Northern State University (2-4, 2-4 NSIC) in the annual homecoming game with kickoff slated for 4 p.m.
•SMSU, which is looking to snap a five-game losing skid since winning the season opener at Minot State, has played a tough schedule in its first six games. Four of SMSU's losses have came against Division II opponents with a combined record of 20-3, while its other loss was two weeks ago at FCS opponent, Valparaiso.
