[Football] Eagles Edged in Overtime at Olivet; Team Falls to 2-5 on Season

BOURBONNAIS (Ill.) — After the Robert Morris University-Illinois offense failed to convert on its opening possession of overtime — the Eagles were turned away on fourth down when junior kicker Omar Beltran pushed a 31-yard field goal attempt just wide of the uprights — a six-yard rush by Olivet Nazarene University running back Jared Honey gave the Tigers a 45-31 homecoming victory on a windy and rain-soaked afternoon at ONU's Ward Field.Saturday's loss — a heartbreaking defeat that saw Robert Morris lose hold of an 11 point, 35-24 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter — was the second-straight for an RMU program that drops to 2-5 on the season, and that is now 1-2 in Mid-States Football Association Midwest League play. The overtime victory boosts Olivet's record to 4-4 on the year, and the Tigers now boast of a 3-1 mark against MSFA Midwest competition.
