[Football] Collymore & Sexton Earn AFCA-NAIA All-American Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The 2019 AFCA NAIA Coaches' All-America Teams were announced on Thursday morning. Sterling College had two Warriors make the lists: Twon Collymore (SO/Manning, S.C.) was a First Team selection at defensive back and Kwame Sexton (JR/Oklahoma City, Okla.) was an Honorable Mention selection at defensive back.Twon Collymore was a unanimous All-KCAC First Team defensive back for the Warriors. Collymore finished second in the KCAC with six interceptions on the year, returning one for a touchdown. He collected a total of 32 tackles on the season and had a total of 13 pass breakups on the year. Collymore finished the season 2nd in the NAIA in Interceptions per Game (0.7), 5th in Total Interceptions (6), and 9th in Passes Defended per Game (1.4). He is the most recent First Team AFCA-NAIA All-American, following T.J. Brown (2016) and Antonio Bray (2013).Kwame Sexton was an All-KCAC First Team selection at defensive back. Sexton led the Warrior defense with 89 tackles on the year, good for third in the KCAC. His 8.9 Tackles per Game ranked 41st in the NAIA. He also earned the KCAC Defensive Player of the Week award earlier in the season.Kansas Wesleyan quarterback Johnny Feauto and Missouri Valley punter Drake Higgins headline the 2019 AFCA NAIA Coaches' All-America Teams announced Thursday. Kansas Wesleyan led all schools with six selections from first, second and honorable mention teams.The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.Feauto, who helped lead Kansas Wesleyan to a conference title and a trip to the NAIA quarterfinals, leads the nation in total offense (4,523 yards), passing yards (4,089) and pass efficiency (196.4). He also earned Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors. Higgins earned his second straight AFCA All-America honor by leading the nation in punting with a 45.1 average, which set a new school record. He had a long punt of 71 yards and pinned 12 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line.The NAIA All-America teams differ from the AFCA list with the addition of an honorable mention team this season. In total, 105 student-athletes were honored over the three teams.
