‘Aggressive’ bears reported on Appalachian Trail, prompting camping bans in Tennessee

Aggressive bears are creating dangers along parts of the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee, resulting in camping bans and warnings against people walking alone. Two sections of the trail near Cleveland, Tennessee, have been deemed unsafe in the past two weeks, according to the U.S. Forest Service. The latest closure, announced in late October, involves the No Business Knob shelter “from Chestoa to Spivey Gap at 19W until further notice,” officials said.
