[Football] Football Places Five on All-GPAC List

The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the 2019 all-conference teams for football. Doane placed five players on the list. Anthony Malone (SR/Centennial, Colo.) headlines the Doane players, earning First Team honors on the defensive side of the ball. Izaiah Celestine (JR/Stockton, Calif.) and Damond Brown (JR/Phoenix, Ariz.) were tabbed Second Team selections while Bryce Cooney (SR/Omaha, Neb.) and Riley Homolka (JR/Wilber, Neb.) received honorable mention recognition.Malone, a defensive lineman, was third on the team with 61 tackles this year, leading the team with 12.0 tackles for loss while adding 2.5 sacks in 2019. He finishes his career with 25.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.Celestine was selected at punt returner where he averaged 16.0 yards per return. He finished the year with 18 returns for 288 yards and one touchdown, an 82-yard return against Hastings.Brown was tabbed in the defensive backfield where he had one interception and one fumble recovery. He was in on 48 tackles and broke-up five passes to lead the team.Cooney, a placekicker, ranked 28th in the NAIA with seven field goals made in 2019. He was 7-of-13 with a long of 41 while going 19-of-20 in point after touchdown (PAT) attempts. He led the team with 40 points this year.Homolka, a defensive lineman, led the Tigers this season with 4.0 sacks and was second on the team with 11.0 tackles for loss. He finished the year with 52 tackles, two forced fumbles, and one blocked kick.
